Internal Steering Committee
The ASPIRE2 Internal Steering Committee (ISC) consists of The University of Texas at Dallas President; Provost (Co-PI); the dean of Erik Jonsson School of Engineering and Computer Science (PI); the deans of the Schools of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, Economic, Political and Policy Sciences, Behavioral and Brain Sciences, Management, and Arts, Technology, and Emerging Communication; the chief human resources officer and change management leader and professor L. Douglas Kiel.
The ISC’s primary responsibility is to provide advice, feedback and support to the PI, Co-PI and others. Specifically, the ISC will:
- Recommend members of the Climate, Recruitment, Retention, and Evaluation Teams and ASPIRE2 liaisons.
- Assist in the selection of ASPIRE2 grant (recruitment matching and mentor) recipients.
This group, which includes senior campus administrators who effect policy, promote change and supply resources, can hold units accountable and provide legitimacy to ASPIRE2. Collectively, they monitor the quality and operations of the project implementation within their schools and work closely with the Implementation and Evaluation teams.
The ISC meets on a quarterly basis and ad hoc. Dr. Steven Small, dean of the School of Behavioral and Brain Sciences and Aage and Margareta Møller Distinguished Professor in Behavioral and Brain Sciences, will serve as the chair of the ISC.
