The On-Ramps into Academia Workshop

The On-Ramps into Academia program by UT Dallas offers a one-day workshop for women scientists and engineers who have earned their PhD and are interested in transitioning to academic faculty positions from their current roles in industry, consulting or national/research labs.

This program is part of the Identification and Recruitment pillar of the ASPIRE², which strives to increase the participation and advancement of women faculty in science and engineering. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about the job application and interview processes, startup negotiations, and how to obtain funding during their first years in academia, among other pertinent topics to help make the transition successful.      

Eligibility and Criteria:

We encourage participation from interested parties who:

• Are women scientists and engineers who have earned their PhD  and are interested in transitioning to academic faculty positions from their current roles in industry, consulting or national/research labs.
• Have goals to enter the professoriate and conduct research that synergizes with UT Dallas’ Schools of Natural Sciences and Mathematics; Behavioral and Brain Sciences; Economic, Political and Policy Sciences, and/or the Erik Jonsson School of Engineering and Computer Science.
• Desire to contribute to UT Dallas’ culture of diversity, equity, accessibility and inclusion.
